Our First Week..

IMGP9730

Having arrived in Swaziland on Fri 4th November, so on Saturday we did our best to have a bonfire to toast our marshmallows. Kieran and his friend Josh built the fire from scratch (rubbing two sticks together) which was awesome.

It’s been a wonderful first week.. settling in our home.. buying a vehicle.. appointments with schools for Naomi, Kieran & Maddison.. trying to sort some form of internet access.. meeting so many people.

Some good things we’ve noticed.. the local people are so friendly and the children that we’ve met on the farm & in schools are so polite and well-mannered… this weather is nice!… it cools down at night so it’s easy to get a good nights sleep.. the views here are stunning with views of mountains and lakes all round the house..

Some more challenging things we’re dealing with… Africa Time!! – everyone is so laid back and the pace of life is slooooow.. internet access, electricity. mobile signals are often non-existent.. frozen food WILL be defrosted completely by the time we get it home and milk will be sour if we don’t take freezer bags and ice packs (we learnt the hard way!).. FLIES !! so many of them and its a constant war to keep the house clear of them… Big insects that seem to aim for your face (ergh!)..

Naomi, Kieran & Maddison have all taken entrance tests at their potential schools and we wait to hear the result.  All three are settling although difficult for them at times. We all miss our family & friends at home xx
